Protechnologies is a French company specializing in software, equipment, and services for vehicle inspection centers. Since 1993, it has been supporting independent centers with their day-to-day operations. Among other things, it operates the“moncontroletechnique.fr”platform, which allows customers to book appointments online.

  • Starting point & challenges
Protechnologies was hosted by a competitor. And until then, everything was running smoothly.
But, as so often happens, there was an attack. All the services went down.
And that’s where the troubles began: Protechnologies suffered significant financial losses, with their entire business activity brought to a standstill and no support meeting their expectations or needs.
Faced with the urgency of the situation, Protechnologies decided to call in the IT Lumberjacks, whom they had already been in touch with.
  • The goal & the plan
The first step was, of course, to deploy a Virtual Private Cloud to host all the machines.
With a front-end web infrastructure and a database subject to such heavy demand, there was an urgent need for high storage performance. So the IT Lumberjacks deployed their vSAN solution, perfectly suited to this environment.
What’s more, dual-site replication is natively built into the solution, addressing the crucial need for resilience in this environment.
And now we get to the key point: security!
Thanks to the IT Lumberjacks, Protechnologies now has an ISO- and HDS-certified platform, with an edge firewall built in by default.

No specific build required here ! That’s the beauty of the Mountain Men solutions.
Thanks to our vCLoud offer, the IT Lumberjacks can directly provide an environment to the target with the possibility to migrate the VMs as identical and to replicate the whole network environment.

There was one additional requirement: Protechnologies needed to keep a firewall independent of the one integrated into our platform. Not really an issue for the IT Lumberjacks: our platform is fully adaptable, and the firewall can be configured as a router.
This means Protechnologies can host a firewall as a VM, directly in the Cloud, with no specific configuration, no double NAT, and no other complications. In the end, the client remains fully independent when migrating its VMs.

Thanks to the vCloud interface, they can directly import them in OVS/VOA format or provision the entire platform through the vCloud Director API.

Mountain Men manage the platform’s operations and maintenance outside business hours by default.
The IT Lumberjacks make sure the Cloud stays up and consistently meets its service commitments.

Afterwards, Protechnologies also decided to entrust Mountain Men with the outsourcing of its virtual machines, outside business hours.
